10 Weirdest Things WWE Ever BANNED

Leg slaps, leopard skin and the other weirdest bans ever to pop up in WWE.

In case you weren't aware by this point, the world of professional wrestling, and in particular sports entertainment, is a pretty darn strange one.

After all, this is the place where supernatural Deadmen rise from the grave to challenge for World Championship gold and human beings often struggle to get through a sit-down interview or contract signing without destroying everything in their vicinity.

But perhaps even weirder than the events and shenanigans regularly seen going down on WWE programming is the truth behind what wrestlers and other employees under the sports entertainment banner have and have not been allowed to do over the years, and why certain moves, gears, or words were strictly banned at certain points whilst Vince McMahon was at the wheel.

Now, with the one-time CEO and head of creative no longer steering the WWE ship in the wake of retiring in disgrace earlier this year, there's a solid chance many of the following bans that haven't already long-since been erased will be lifted before long.

But that still doesn't change the fact that from particularly eye-catching trunks, to illusion-shattering in-ring tricks, each of these specific elements all found themselves peculiarly being stripped away from the wrestling giant at one point or another.

10. Wrestling Terminology

Despite boasting a ring, wrestlers, and just about every other unmistakable element of a wrestling product, Vince McMahon clearly wanted to distance the world of sports entertainment away from all things pro wrasslin'.

So, in a bid to do precisely that, the one-time boss began adding certain pieces of wrestling terminology to an increasingly long list of words and phrases over the years that were ultimately banned from ever being uttered on WWE programming.

Among said words were everything from the obvious Wrestling and Wrestlers, to the far more bizarre and specific Strap and DQ.

Thankfully, since taking over from his father-in-law earlier this year, Triple H has seemingly loosened the reins a touch when it comes to what his stars and commentary team can speak into existence on the likes of Raw, Smackdown, and NXT.

Wrestling and Wrestlers are both no longer taboo on the biggest wrestling show in town, you'll be pleased to hear. And who knows, by the end of 2023, those working under the WWE banner may actually be allowed to talk about the Fans, Belts, and Straps without fearing a $1,000 fine is heading their way!
