10 Weirdest WrestleMania Openers In History

1. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan (WrestleMania XXVIII)

On that note, matches don't have to be long to be memorable, just ask Daniel Bryan. Making his first appearance on the main card of WrestleMania must have been a dream come true, the culmination of years of dedication and hard work, toil which was gone in 18 seconds. At 'Mania XXVII, Bryan and Sheamus had the rug pulled out from under them - originally scheduled to wrestle on the main show for the United States Championship, both men were instead placed on the dreaded pre-show spot, something which irritated fans to no end. As if on a mission to belittle both guys once more, WWE higher-ups dictated that the World Heavyweight Title match between the pair would open up WrestleMania XXVIII, and only last less than 20 seconds. Thumped with a big kick following a kiss to his then-on screen girlfriend AJ Lee, Bryan lost his title, and the fans were stunned. Surely, this must go down as the most shockingly pointless use of talent at WrestleMania. Both men could have pieced together a hard-hitting memorable collision, but they weren't even given the chance. What other WrestleMania openers had you baffled?
