5. He's Not American

Away from Kurt's home on Monday Night Raw, WWE have found a brand new obsession with the anti-American trope. Rusev returned last week to challenge ultra-patriot John Cena to a flag match at the show's next pay-per-view, whilst Kevin Owens took every opportunity to mock the company's home turf in his role as 'New Face Of America', before Jinder Mahal rode the jingoistic wave all the way to a shocking WWE Title victory.

The red, white and blue of 'Old Glory' are entrenched within every aspect of Kurt's character, with his profound partisanship utilised well for his persona as both a country-loving babyface and sanctimonious heel, but a shocking revelation that he's not in fact a native Pittsburgher as always thought would be the type of thing he'd be desperate to keep under wraps.

All along the calls and messages could have been coming from a long lost member of his family, first showing hostilities but ultimately helping Kurt accept his plight as more nomadic than he once thought, with the news making him question everything he ever thought or knew about himself or his roots.

Alternatively, the information could make him reconsider ever embracing his flag. Turning his back on everything that fuelled him, a disillusioned Kurt could join Mahal, Owens and Rusev in disparaging his formerly beloved nation in a radical new direction for his character.
