10 Wild WWE Matches You Forgot Almost Happened

1. King Of The Deathmatch (WrestleMania XIV)

They'd have been mopping up blood for days had this wild pitch been given the green light.

Everyone remembers that violent exchange Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie had during the 1998 Rumble, right? Both exchanged wicked chair shots to the head, and Terry Funk's alter ego even introduced the titular chainsaw for a bit. That was supposed to be the tip of the iceberg heading into WrestleMania XIV.

Mick Foley fancied repeating the pair's vicious 'King Of The Deathmatch' wars over in Japan. He pitched to Vince McMahon that the WWF book a 'Best Of 7' series that'd escalate before peaking at 'Mania, but the then-boss wasn't interested. He thought it'd be too gruesome and certainly wasn't into the idea of using barbed wire or explosions.

Mick revealed on his Foley Is Pod show that he actually wanted to "go off-site" and shoot a few of the matches at different locations. Then, they'd leave the best for last and showcase extreme violence in front of a live crowd at 'Mania. McMahon didn't think about this long before saying no.
