8. Mercedes Martinez
One of the most decorated female wrestlers in the world, Mercedes Martinez has been around since the start of the new millennium.
Martinez performed on the very first Shimmer show back in 2006 and has been with the promotion ever since. She is a two-time Shimmer Champion, as well as a former co-holder of their tag team titles.
Martinez has also held championships in the NWA, RISE, Women Superstars Uncensored and WXW.
WWE fans will know Martinez from the Mae Young Classic, as she's appeared in both editions of the tournament. In 2018, she made it to the second round, but in the year prior she made it all the way to the semi-finals, eventually losing to Shayna Baszler on The Submission Magician's way to the final.
Mercedes is an incredible performer with a wide variety of skills both inside the ring and on the microphone.
Martinez would offer a wealth of experience to AEW and is a name that wrestling fans would recognise. She's honed her craft over nearly 20 years and could see out the final years of her career in a high-profile new company.
