5. Chucky Cuts A Vicious Promo On Rick Steiner

Bride of Chucky was coming out at the movie theatres, and WCW, the King of Movie-Tie-In promotions (more on this to come) decided that the most effective way to rack up a few precious coins was to have Chucky appear on Monday Nitro. Not just appear, but drop a pipe bomb on Mean Gene Okerlund and Rick Steiner. It was the lead up to Halloween Havoc 1998, and the Steiner Brothers, Rick and Scott, were embroiled in a one-on-one feud that was to be blown off at the October PPV in not one but two matches featuring the pair. Fun Fact: this PPV would also feature Hollywood Hogan vs The Ultimate Warrior, one of the worst high-profile wrestling matches of all time. Mean Gene is interviewing Rick in the ring when demonic laughter starts to sound throughout the arena. There, on the titantron was Chucky. The doll. The evil doll. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbXR21Esjq4 Chucky was a fan of babyface Scott Steiner (which is not exactly a ringing endorsement for the man, Chucky is a serial murderer remember) and tells Rick Steiner where to go. Rick tells him to come down to the ring so they can settle it. He's a puppet. Everything about this is cringeworthy. The video was obviously pre-recorded, and the live interviewers kept messing up when to talk and when not to. Also, Rick Steiner was never that good on the mic and watching him being out-talked by a doll didn't do him any favours. Or the audience any favours. Or anyone any favours.
