10 Worst Gimmicks For The Best Wrestlers

2. Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe is one of wrestling’s more unique talents. His throwback look, agility for a big man, and ring style have made him a popular and sought after professional wrestler. He has been a top attraction for Ring Of Honor, Impact Wrestling, NXT, and WWE. He was one of the staples who helped build Impact Wrestling.

However, Impact Wrestling is also where the talented Joe received his worst gimmick. The company went through a phase in which they felt they needed to re-invent the wheel. He was a victim of a bad repackage job in 2009.

Joe was already a multi-time former champion when he was unexplainably given the ‘Nation of Violence’ gimmick. The awkward gimmick included him wearing a leather outfit, having a facial tattoo, and using torture tactics and weapons. This new sadistic character also didn’t care much about winning or losing. The gimmick was a bad look and a poor fit for him.
