For much of the late 2000s, Beth Phoenix and Michelle McCool were the top women on Raw and SmackDown respectively. Unfortunately, that's where the comparisons ended - while Phoenix was a top-notch talent who played her character convincingly, McCool was lacking in the ring and annoying in a non-beneficial way.

Once Phoenix was traded to SmackDown, she turned face and started feuding with Women's Champion McCool, which meant that she was also feuding with McCool's "LayCool" partner Layla, and SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero. Phoenix earned a title match, and when LayCool attacked her with an ironing board and lipstick, it became an "Extreme Makeover" bout.

All that meant, basically, were that the ring was scattered with weapons that had to do with makeovers and housekeeping, ensuring that the women's division of the time was still a joke. After six minutes of nonsense, Phoenix pinned McCool to win the title - but she would soon suffer a knee injury and lose the belt to Layla.
