6. Teddy Long And Kristal Marshall
Teddy Long spent about as much time calling people ‘playa’ as he did being one during his tenure as longest running Smackdown General Manager. So, when it was finally time for Teddy to tie the knot, fans were expecting something big to come of it.
This is because the entire marriage was set up as a political ploy to remove Long from his position as GM. Diva Search contestant Kristal Marshall was the bait, and after a successful attempt to seduce Long backstage, ‘Teddylicious’ got down on one knee to propose to his new paramour. When it came time for the ceremony, the much older Teddy Long collapsed after a (kayfabe) heart attack, and the role of interim GM was given to Kristal’s friend Vickie Guerrero (herself no stranger to weird romance angles).
This would have made for an interesting Game of Thrones-esque scheme, but since Kristal was released from WWE shortly after, nothing really came of it.
