10 Worst Romance Angles In WWE History
5. Sable And Vince McMahon
If you’re a wrestling fan – and if you’re not, you’ve picked a strange site to frequent – then you’ve probably engaged in the odd bit of fantasy booking from time to time, drawing up dream matches and stories between your favourite babyface and most hated heel. When you’re an actual booker, you get to do that for real, and you can even replace ‘favourite babyface’ with ‘most attractive underwear model’ and ‘most hated heel’ with ‘me.’
That’s exactly what Vince McMahon did, when he booked himself into a romantic storyline involving Sable.
What made the story so uncomfortable,
aside from the fact that the entire thing was a forced mess of an angle with no
chemistry at its centre? Sable had actually sued Vince’s company for sexual harassment
several years earlier, and was dating Vince’s golden boy Brock Lesnar at the
time the story aired.
The angle contained some awkward segments wherein Sable stroked VKM’s hair, breathing sweet nothings into his ear, but it was mainly used as a catalyst for a Sable vs Stephanie McMahon feud. Vince had hired Sable as Steph’s assistant, due to her being qualified ‘in a number of positions’, and the rest was ugly, ugly history.
