10 Worst Romance Angles In WWE History
4. Eve Torres And John Cena/Zack Ryder
Poor Zack Ryder. If any single Superstar perfectly sums up Vince McMahon’s ‘no chance in hell catchphrase, it’s Long Island Iced Z.
After getting himself over by hook or by crook, Zack Ryder finally managed to capture United States gold - and was one the way to becoming one of WWE’s most popular mid-card attractions. Things turned pear-shaped, however, when Ryder became embroiled in a relationship with Eve Torres and a rocky friendship with John Cena.
The friendship started off well, with Cena interfering on behalf of Ryder so Zack could earn an opportunity to win the US title. After winning the belt, Ryder looked to court Torres, but soon became targeted by Kane, who was feuding with Cena at the time. This whole ordeal saw Ryder lose his championship, wind up wheelchair-bound watching his so-called best friend kiss his would-be girlfriend in front of him, and receive a low blow at the hands of the woman he loved.
This would all be fine, if Zack eventually sought justice against either Kane, Eve or Cena (who was supposed to be a good guy during all of this), but Ryder would receive no such thing, and faded into obscurity for a while following an abysmal 2012.
