10 Worst TNA Champions Ever
8. Eric Young
One of the most universally-acclaimed storylines in recent wrestling history was Daniel Bryan's rise to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Though the company (legitimately) didn't see him as a star, fan reaction meant that he had to be pushed to the top spot. At WrestleMania XXX, he defeated Triple H to earn a slot in the main event, then - with an injured shoulder - defeated Randy Orton and Batista to win the title.
TNA saw how successful Bryan's ascent was, and they decided to completely rip it off. Just days after WrestleMania XXX, Young - who had been sporting a Bryan-esque beard - won a battle royal on Impact to earn the right to challenge Magnus for the TNA Championship. With an injured shoulder of his own, Young pulled off the upset and became the champ.
Needless to say, the returns were not the same. Young had been a midcarder for his TNA career, and while Bryan had suffered in the pecking order at times, he was also widely recognized as the best wrestler in the world. Young simply came off as a guy benefiting from creative bankruptcy, and his two month title reign was a constant reminder that TNA was a distant #2 in the U.S.'s pro wrestling hierarchy.
