10 Worst TNA X Division Champions Ever

1. Abyss

In any cruiserweight-style division, there's nothing wrong with booking a big man as champion. The idea of this larger than everyone else man bullying the division into submission whilst essentially holding the belt hostage is a story as old as time, and it often works well. Heck, it has worked with the X Division in the past, when Samoa Joe held the championship.

Abyss as champion however, well, that was a big no-no from the get-go. The Monster won the title from Kazarian in May 2011 on an episode of Impact Wrestling, as Immortal continued to rack up the titles in TNA. Eric Bischoff was waging war on the X Division for some reason, and Abyss was his main weapon.

Despite reading from 'The Art of War', Abyss was unable to kill the division, and the stage was set for someone to rise up from the abyss and defeat the man for the title. For some reason that man ended up being Brian Kendrick, a fantastic wrestler but not one who you felt would be the guy to take the X Division forward.

Abyss was an utterly ridiculous X Division Champion, undoubtedly the worst in company history.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
