10 Worst TNA X Division Champions Ever

2. Kurt Angle

It is not unusual for an individual to find himself holding multiple titles at one time in a company. Seth Rollins is the most recent example, holding both the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Championships simultaneously towards the end of 2015. But every active male championship in a company? That is taking things a bit too far.

That is exactly what Kurt Angle did in August 2007, when he defeated Samoa Joe at Hard Justice to win not only the X Division Championship, but the TNA World Tag Team Championship to boot. Depressingly, Kurt Angle is one of three men to hold the tag titles all by themselves.

Angle's run as X Division could have been noteworthy, as whoever defeated him was in line for a major rub. Jay Lethal was that man, but there was no rub. It was Angle's second match of the night after all. Angle as champion devalued the belt, as it became an aesthetic prop minus that assumed pretence that a championship requires.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
