10 Worst WCW Gimmicks Ever

6. The Ding Dongs

The Jim Herd Era, which lasted from 1998 to 1992, was one of the darkest periods in WCW's history. Marked by terrible gimmicks, low ratings, the firing of Ric Flair, and low attendance, the former Pizza Hut executive did everything he could to run WCW into the ground. Herd thought that he could complete with Vince McMahon by introducing the same type of "gimmick wrestlers" that the WWF had. Unfortunately, Herd had a complete lack of wrestling knowledge and his ideas for gimmicks were some of the worst in history. One of his ideas that thankfully never made it to air was a tag team called the Hunchbacks. You see, since they were hunchbacks, there was no way to pin their shoulders to the mat so they would never lose! Genius, right? The booking committee shot that one down immediately Unfortunately, another one of his ideas did make it to television and that was the Ding Dongs. Herd believed that children needed a team to root for so he came up with a tag team that incorporated bells into their matches. They had bells all over their tights and one partner would constantly ring a bell while the other was in the ring wrestling. If this sounds like the stupidest thing you've ever heard, congratulations, you are smarter than Jim Herd.
