10 Worst WCW Main Events Ever

2. Halloween Havoc 1999 - Sting vs. Goldberg

Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara’s first pay-per-view under their control was Halloween Havoc 1999. They obviously wanted to deliver a great impression with the fans, and let them know this was a new, exciting era of WCW. So what did they give us? A three minute main event.

The original main event was supposed to be Sting vs. Hulk Hogan, but they swerved us and Hogan laid down for Sting and let him pin him. Russo took no time being Russo basically.

They made it look like a shoot, but since it was mysteriously booked halfway through the show and not in the main event as it was promoted, you knew something was up. So, Sting came out again at the end of the night and demanded a fight, Goldberg answered that call.

Heel Sting was no match for Da Man, and they had a sloppy match that was way too short to leave fans satisfied with their purchase. They weren’t in danger of running over the pay-per-view time limit, so they could have easily added a few more minutes to it. It was not a good way to end the night, and it was a really bad way to start a new era.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
