10 Worst WCW Main Events Ever

8. Hulk Hogan vs. The Butcher - Starrcade 1994

You know, there was an incredibly good reason why Brutus The Barber Beefcake never main-evented a pay-per-view on his own. Because he wasn't that good. Everyone seemed aware of that, everyone could agree on that. Well, except for Eric Bischoff, who let Hulk Hogan close out the biggest pay-per-view of the year against his favorite crony, and personal hairstylist.

Brutus now couldn’t be Beefcake because the WWF owned the name, so he became The Butcher. He should have gone by The Hack. The Mooch? The Freeloader? Hogan's Personal Servant?

No one believed that the future Booty Man/Disciple/Zodiac/The Man With No Name was going to beat Hogan, so the heat just wasn’t there. The two participated in an incredibly formulaic and forgettable Hogan effort, you know the one. It featured some nerve holds and sleeper holds to spice things up.

Believe it or not, Hogan Hulked Up and put away Butcher with ease. It was a match that in 1994 felt horribly dated by that point, and with Mr. T on the show as well, it represented the worst of what Hulkamania in WCW could be. Well...almost the worst...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
