10 Worst WCW Main Events Ever

6. Hulk Hogan And Eric Bischoff vs. DDP And Jay Leno - Road Wild 1998

The WWF brought in Mike Tyson in 1998, and it helped bring them more mainstream recognition than they had in years. It was a controversial, but brilliant move that perfectly captured the attitude that Vince McMahon was looking for. In 1998, Eric Bischoff brought in Jay Leno.

It was just as bad as it sounded. Leno was nearly 50 at that point, and was no athlete. Bischoff, despite being around the wrestling business for over a decade at that point, couldn’t put together anything that resembled a wrestling match, and Hogan was half-assing it as usual. DDP tried, but one man can’t overcome the failures of three others. Kevin Eubanks was actually the second most talented person in this match.

The worst, most infamous moment was Leno putting Hogan in an armbar, and the man who carried the WWF throughout the 80s had to sell the damn thing.

Just a few weeks later, the WWF put on SummerSlam 98 with the great Steve Austin vs. Undertaker match in the main event, along with Triple H vs. Rock in a stellar ladder match. It made WCW look old, ancient and laughably bad in comparison.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
