10 Worst WWE Debuts Of The Decade (So Far)
1. The Universal Championship Belt
The chorus of boos that greeted the unveiling of the Universal Championship was immediate proof that WWE had made a mammoth mistake when designing the red title belt. The centrepiece of WWE's flagship show, the title itself should have been the crown jewel of the entire promotion. Instead, it looked like something an eight year old would draw when they ran out of the right colours.
Uninspired, unoriginal, and straight up lazy, the decision to replicate the WWE Championship in a different colour was not a popular move. While it has since become an accepted trend - with each show's tag belts in particular alternating between red and blue - the unveiling of the Universal Championship at SummerSlam was far from the grand debut WWE were hoping for.
WWE have a rich history of championships and a good track record of creating attractive silverware. Sadly, this was not one of them and the results were rejected by the fans. What's worse, Raw's new plagiarised title was up for grabs that same night and the presence of the belt at ringside drew the ire of fans every time it was shown on screen. Not only did this take away from the excellent match between Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor that was on-going, but it also took away from the historical significance of the moment as well.
