10 Worst WWE Debuts Of The Decade (So Far)
8. Lord Tensai
Matt Bloom has had several high profile runs in wrestling, under a number of different monikers. From Prince Albert to A-Train to Giant Bernard, Bloom has never been short on names. Nevertheless, each role has essentially been the same gimmick under a new title.
So when WWE began to run vignettes for a mysterious tattooed newcomer named Lord Tensai, few were surprised when it turned out to be the monstrous Bloom under yet another name - particularly after it was rumoured he had re-signed with the company several weeks earlier. Fresh from his last run in Japan, the bald brute was decked out in traditional Japanese warrior attire and given an Asian sounding entrance theme.
Flanked by his "follower" Sakamoto, WWE went all out to present him as big deal. Unfortunately, WWE fans have long term memories and chants of "Albert" and "A-Train" did nothing to help the new gimmick. Within two months, he had dropped the "Lord" prefix, lost the warrior-like entrance gear and, soon enough, even lost Sakamoto.
Tensai went on a losing streak, even having to wear lingerie on TV as part of a stipulation. Before long, he became a mid-card comedy act with Brodus Clay as Tons of Funk. Tensai changed his name yet again, to become Sweet T, before retiring at the end of 2013.
