As The Vaudevillians, the team of Aiden English and Simon Gotch were one of the most entertaining acts in NXT. With 2015 proving to be their breakout year, the dastardly duo even captured the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.

With a unique gimmick, an unusual style and an overall presentation unlike anyone else, the two gentleman made the natural progression to the main roster in 2016 on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 32. Almost exactly one year later, the team were no more and Simon Gotch had been released.

After debuting to a bemused crowd in their first outing, it was clear that the blue brand's newest recruits faced an uphill battle outside the confines of NXT. On the larger stage of SmackDown, the audience wasn't entirely sold on the pair. Luckily, this was still during a time when SmackDown was pre-taped and the reaction could be modified in post-production.

Despite a planned victory in their PPV debut at Payback, The Vaudevillains' first outing on the big stage couldn't have gone any worse. Squaring off with Enzo and Cass, Amore suffered a legit concussion, which led to the premature stoppage of the bout.

After the PPV bout, the writing was already on the wall. A losing streak followed and their last appearance as a tandem came in the Andre Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33.
