10 Worst WWE Main Event Matches Of The Decade

Despite the near endless wave of hate, John Cena was by all means one of the best performers of all time. Regardless of moves or in ring techniques, he knew how to get crowds invested and that’s really what matters. However if the phrase, “shoved down our throats”, was ever true, then it would be this night here in 2012.

This match makes this list solely because of the fact that it was a main event at all. In a card that featured Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk for the WWE Championship and a Fatal Four Way for the World Heavyweight Championship between Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus, for some reason Big Match John vs. Big Johnny was chosen to go on last.

Granted, there were high stakes riding on this, but still, it was Cena vs. Laurinaitis. We would never have WrestleMania X-Seven main evented by Vince vs. Shane instead of Rock-Austin, regardless of what was on the line during the former.

The match as you can imagine was pretty ordinary and ended with the most clichéd plot twist in WWE history: the Big Show turn.
