10 Worst WWE Moments Of 2005

8. Cena & Batista Botch The Rumble Finish

January's Royal Rumble finish set the tone for the worst 2005 had in store.

John Cena and Batista bungled the 30-man bout's ending so badly that an irate Vince McMahon marched out to put things right. Unfortunately for the then boss, he bashed his knees on the steel support holding up the ring and ended up tearing both of his quads. That meant a shattered McMahon had to camp out on the canvas and bark instructions to everybody whilst looking up.

He had to be mortified by that. Vince has never been one to publicly sell weakness of any sort, but he literally couldn't stand up. He might as well have had spaghetti for legs instead of muscle, bone and skin. He was done in, and it was his own clumsiness that had caused the problem. Oops. That must've been really embarrassing for someone like McMahon.

WWE restarted the match and Batista won the thing as planned, but not before Vince needed a trip to the hospital. Both Cena and 'The Animal' likely believed they were in for quite the talking to at Raw the next night. Somehow, they'd managed to tumble over the top rope and hit the floor as exactly the same time - it was akin to Bret Hart and Lex Luger in 1994.

No-one really knew how to rectify things, but legless McMahon stumbled in to put things back on course. WWE's kingpin probably hated everything about this scenario, but it was at least entertaining to fans around ringside and to those watching at home. What a messy conclusion to the first tentpole pay-per-view of '05 though.
