10 Worst WWE United States Title Matches Of The Modern Era
1. Bret Hart Vs. The Miz (Raw, 17 May 2010)
WWE really should have learned their lesson at WrestleMania XXVI. There, Bret Hart utterly whipped Vince McMahon in a one-sided brawl. There was a reason for this; Hart was unable to take any bumps, greatly reducing what could be expected from the long-awaited collision.
Instead of realising the error of their ways, the company directly risked ruining the momentum of a rising star on the 17 May 2010 episode of Monday Night Raw. On that show, the broken down veteran was booked to beat The Miz for the WWE United States Title. Naturally, it was far from a classic Hitman encounter.
The very next week, Hart was announced as the new General Manager of Raw and revealed that he was giving up the title. Then, Miz was beaten by R-Truth, further making him look like a joke.
Undoubtedly, Bret Hart is a wrestling legend, but he should never have been anywhere near the United States gold in 2010. Unable to bump and always going to vacate, his victory over Miz was a minor disaster.
