10 WrestleMania 32 Mistakes WWE Must Avoid This Year

3. Choose The Right Main Event

In relation to the rest of the card, Roman Reigns vs Triple H was really the only option for last year’s main event, at least in the short term lead up to WrestleMania 32. While the feud might not have been the brightest long term idea, WWE had dealt its hand already. A match between two main event talents for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was the only conceivable way to end the show, even if it meant sitting through a thirty minute slog between two unpopular Superstars.

This time around, WWE has to carefully position its two World Title contests around both each other, and a main event calibre match between Reigns and The Undertaker. It’s likely that match will occupy the midcard alongside AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon, leaving both the WWE and Universal Title matches further up the card.

Although WWE is probably looking to make the Universal Title seem more prestigious, having Lesnar and Goldberg fight for it arguably already lends the belt some sheen. The WWE Championship should be the night’s ‘real’ main event, since it already has the more intriguing story going in, and will be a much longer and more accomplished contest than Goldberg and Lesnar’s inevitable sub-two minute squash.

The Universal Title match will make for a short and sweet refresher for fans, a third-from-last pick-me-up for anyone who’s stuck with the show for the previous six hours - but it shouldn’t be the finale or main focus of the night.
