10 WrestleMania Matches That Surpassed All Expectations

8. Razor Ramon Vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania X)

While few fans went into WrestleManaia X expecting to see a bad match between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels - two of the best workers of mid-'90s WWE - the bout's third party was, at the time, an enormous unknown quantity.

In the record books, this was the second ladder match in WWE history, although for all intents and purposes it was essentially the first (the actual first, contested by HBK and Bret Hart, was filmed but released only on home video). In other words, few really knew what to expect. It sounded interesting, sure, but many other harebrained wrestling experiments have sounded interesting, only to be exposed as ridiculously convoluted the very second they are put into practice for real.

Given all of that, you have to give buckets of credit to the two men involved. Not only did they share the best match of the night (which is no small feat, given that Owen versus Bret was on the undercard), they even managed a rare five-star rating from Dave Meltzer - the first ever awarded to a WWF/E match.

And they weren't even wrestling in the Tokyo Dome.
