10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals
7. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Savio Vega - Caribbean Strap Match (In Your House VIII: Beware Of Dog)
Steve Austin's well-documented WWF debut as "The Ringmaster," Ted DiBiase's new Million Dollar Champion, did him no favors, but re-christening himself "Stone Cold" wasn't an overnight solution to the problem. Austin's first feud in the company was with future Los Boricuas leader Savio Vega, and with DiBiase still at his side, he was able to defeat Vega via submission at WrestleMania XII. Like with Cena and Wyatt, the 'Mania bout was a technically solid affair, but not the one people would remember. Two months later, at the In Your House: Beware of Dog Pay-Per-View, Austin and Vega clashed once more in a Caribbean Strap Match, where the two men were tied together and the winner would be the first to touch all four corners in succession. Unfortunately, a power outage during the show meant that the television viewers didn't get to see the brutal beating the two men inflicted on one another, and they had to repeat the match on a "do-over" PPV two nights later. This, Steve Austin's first classic WWE match, saw two hated rivals tear each other's skin off with the leather strap in a show of true savagery. Vega won, and as a result of his victory, DiBiase was forced to leave the company. It would soon be revealed, however, that Austin threw the match to break out on his own, without the shadow of the "Million Dollar Man" over him. The next month, he would win King of the Ring and begin his rise to superstardom.
