10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals
8. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio - Ladder Match For Custody Of Dominic (SummerSlam 2005)
WWE Tag Team Champions and best friends Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio clashed in friendly competition in the opening match of WrestleMania 21. Though the match wasn't bad, it was a bit of a disappointment considering the talent involved. Mysterio, who had trouble with his mask coming loose throughout the 12-minute match, eventually pinned former WWE Champion Guerrero. Then things got weird. After the champs lost their titles to MNM later in the month, Guerrero brutally turned on Mysterio, cementing himself as a heel despite his immense popularity. The two men would clash at Judgment Day and The Great American Bash with Rey winning both contests, but Eddie remained in his hair by indicated that he knew a secret about the masked superstar. Finally, he dropped the bomb: during a separation from his wife, Vickie, Eddie had fathered a child whom he "gave" to Rey to raise as his own. With the cat out of the bag, Eddie now wanted "his son," Dominic, back. A ladder match was made for SummerSlam, with custody papers suspended above the ring. As strange as that all sounds (and was), the match itself was great. After months of silly teases and halts, the former friends went all-out with something even more important than championship gold on the line. Even interference from Vickie Guerrero (helping to thwart her nefarious husband) only added to the drama of the contest. In the end, Mysterio won custody, his family was preserved, and a fantastic match capped off the feud.
