10 WrestleMania Rematches That Were Better Than The Originals

6. CM Punk vs Chris Jericho (Extreme Rules 2012)

Chris Jericho returned to WWE on January 2, 2012 following a 16-month layoff, and he was exhibiting some truly strange behavior €“ he was silent (a very un-Jericho quality), and sported an LED-covered jacket that heralded his entrance into a dark arena. The odd behavior was all a ruse, though €“ he was lulling the fans (and his opponents) into a false sense of security, only so he could attack WWE Champion CM Punk. Punk's claims of being "The Best in the World" caused Jericho to take umbrage, and Y2J was determined to prove that only he deserved that appellation. The two met for the title at WrestleMania XXVIII, and Punk won a great match that was, unfortunately, overshadowed by the even better Undertaker-Triple H and Rock-John Cena matches on the card. Jericho's loss made him go insane with hatred. He exposed CM Punk's father's alcoholism (the reason for Punk's straight-edge lifestyle), berated the rest of the champion's family, and tried to force him to drink €“ even pouring whiskey on him at one point. When the two met at Extreme Rules, it was in a street fight €“ the classic "come as you are" kind. In front of Punk's Chicago brethren, the two went tooth and nail, beating each other with hockey sticks, fire extinguishers, and of course, beer. In the end, a GTS ensured that the result was the same as at WrestleMania. Once again, there were two other amazing encounters on the show (Brock Lesnar versus John Cena and another we'll get to in a bit), but this time, Jericho and Punk stood alongside them proudly.
