10 Wrestlers AEW Must Push In 2022

1. Powerhouse Hobbs

If there's one star who AEW have stuffed up, it's Powerhouse Hobbs. More than living up to his name, Hobbs was one of wrestling's best kept secrets before joining the promotion in 2020.

Big, intimidating and explosive, the jacked Californian is the total package. Despite being an absolute unit, Hobbs is quick and nimble on his feet. His offence has a certain high impact snap to it too, ensuring everything he does looks devastating. Even his Emerald Flowsion (renamed The Town Business) gives puroresu GOAT-contender Mitsuharu Misawa a run for his money.

While his promos haven't exactly set the world on fire, Hobbs is no stiff on the mic either. He speaks with confidence and aggression but would likely be at his best as someone who could actually embody the infamous 'silent badass' trope successfully.

The only thing standing in Hobbs' way right now is his rather lacklustre win-loss record.

For a, well, powerhouse, Hobbs sure does do a lot of jobs. Most frustrating of all has been his reoccurring losses to Orange Cassidy who, while amusing, would be better used putting over monster heels than embarrassing them. Hobbs' sterling showing against CM Punk last year proved his psychology and storytelling as a big man are on point. If he were to shed the jobber to the stars visage in 2022, a winning streak could quickly send him to the top of the card.
