In the history of the WWE there have only been 54 men to hold the WWE Championship. From Buddy Rogers all the way back in 1963 to the current champion Roman Reigns, a who's who of professional wrestling have held the most prestigious championship in the sport. It is an honor that should not be lost on the wrestlers lucky enough to hold the title.
One of the most important decisions that Vince McMahon and other decision makers in WWE need to make is who to put the title on. That superstar has the responsibility of not only being the star of the show, but the face of the company on camera and behind the scenes. While every title change is a key moment, it is even more integral when deciding to crown a wrestler WWE Champion for the first time.
Recent years have seen the company make popular decisions by having Bobby Lashley, Big E, and Kofi Kingston win the WWE Championship for the first time. While Roman Reigns has firmly established himself as the face of the WWE, it is always important to look to the future for WWE's biggest prize.

If not the current stars of the Raw and SmackDown, wrestlers who are free agents or in NXT could also be considered as they might already have one foot in the door of WWE.

Despite all of that, there is no denying the drawing power of The Salt of the Earth if he would open the forbidden door and join WWE. Still only 26 years old, MJF has already been pegged as the future of professional wrestling, no matter what company he wrestles for.
Should Maxwell Jacob Friedman decide to let his AEW contract expire in a little over a year and join WWE, two things would be clear. First, it would not come cheap, as the leader of The Pinnacle knows his worth, stating so both on AEW programming and in countless interviews. Second, big things would be in store for the Burberry clad star, chief of which would be eventually winning the WWE Championship.
