After years of being a glorified super indie, NXT has reverted back to being a developmental territory for the WWE, to both positive and negative reactions from fans. As much as the WWE Universe will miss the likes of Adam Cole, Kushida and others, it has paved the way for the NXT 2.0 roster to take over and climb the ladder of success in WWE.

The man arguably poised for the most success in the reinvented NXT and beyond is Carmelo Hayes. The now 2-time North American Champion has the character, ability, and most importantly, the look of a future star for main roster WWE. With Vince McMahon currently relying on experienced stars such as Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, Edge, and Brock Lesnar, amongst others, it is only a matter of time before the next crop of superstars take their place atop the main event scene.

While Melo has spent his time in NXT calling himself "The A Champion" despite holding the secondary championship, there is no question what "the championship" is on the main roster. If the Boston native wants to truly live up to his nickname once he inevitably makes the jump to Monday and Friday nights, the only way to accomplish that is to win the WWE Championship something Trick Williams' charge should have no problem doing.
