10 Wrestlers Punished In-Ring For Their Behaviour
3. Public Enemy No. 1
In ECW, the Public Enemy were gods amongst the tag scene. In the WWF, they were treated like insects. Paul Heyman had transformed Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge into a pair of white guys enamoured by the growing '90s hip hop culture. A runaway success with ECW fans, the two also spent some time in WCW before finally bringing their act to the WWF in 1999.
Due to choosing WCW over the WWF back in 1996, many members of the locker room disliked the tandem immediately. The disdain was made worse by many’s belief that they were acting too big for their boots upon arriving.
The Public Enemy were booked against The Acolytes on an episode of Sunday Night Heat. Never ones for letting bad behaviour go unpunished, Faarooq and Bradshaw (yes, him again) unleashed the kind of beatdown that would land them in prison outside of the ring. Infamous for hazing badly behaved colleagues, the Acolytes laid into the Public Enemy with mercilessly stiff strikes and steel chairs, drumming their brains with unprotected shots as a final exclamation point.
