Joanie Laurer was a true trailblazer who WWE largely ignored for the final 15 years of her life. Of course, following Chyna's passing in 2016, she was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of D-Generation X in 2019.

As an example of how WWE wanted nothing to do with the former Intercontinental Champion prior to her death, she was escorted from the company's Stamford headquarters a year prior to her passing.

The story was detailed at the time it happened, but Joanie's former manager Anthony Anzaldo recapped this whole incident once more during a chat with Wrestling Inc last year.

From Anzaldo's recollection, he and Chyna visited WWE HQ to discuss possible royalty payments. As he explained, Laurer had received $88,000 of royalty money in 2004 and so the pair wanted to see if any further payments were outstanding.

Upon arriving at WWE HQ, Anzaldo asked to speak to somebody in the legal department about this issue. From Anthony, it took "15 seconds" for there to be "five black suits in the lobby" as he and Chyna were removed from the building at the orders of Vince McMahon.
