The troubled life of Chris Kanyon has recently been documented with its own Dark Side of the Ring episode, with Kanyon's struggles and his tragic end detailed in poignant fashion by producers Evan Husney and Jason Eisner.

Having been released by WWE in 2004, The Innovator of Offense made a surprise appearance at a September 2006 live event that Vince McMahon's promotion put on in Tampa, Florida. Not only was that a surprise for the fans in attendance on that night, but this Kanyon appearance also came as a total surprise to WWE.

With the D-Generation X tandem of Shawn Michaels and Triple H running the gauntlet on that night in tag action, Kanyon made his presence known prior to DX taking on Charlie Haas and Viscera. The former WCW US Champion had a sign encouraging Triple H to ask Vince why he'd been fired, while the other side of the sign asked Michaels to pray for Kanyon's soul.

Despite some fans thinking this was all part of the show - complete with Hunter even grabbing the house mic and addressing Kanyon - the one-time Mortis was grabbed by security and ejected from the building.
