10 Wrestlers That Knew They Were Saying Something Stupid As They Said It

7. Jim Cornette Asserts His "Authority"

Bruce Prichard Jim Cornette
WWE

Jim Cornette knows what he likes in wrestling, and what he likes in wrestling is a pointless Twitter dust-up about something that doesn't really matter because people can enjoy different things. But the core principles behind what he used to like are what triggers all that outrage - people find the daft new frontiers in wrestling and snitch-tag him in gifs and videos to manufacture rage that he can monetise.

Quite fittingly, he ain't what he used to be.

Thing is, what he used to be wasn't even what he was during a stint for TNA/Impact/GFW in 2017. Returning as an authority figure higher than existing authority figure Bruce Prichard because this is wrestling how we used to like it, right Jim?

Cornette's rant was over-familiar to the point of boredom. To Prichard, he yelled; "You push your agenda and ideas...whether it's locker room or the boardroom...and you have overstepped your bounds and people are getting sick and fed up of you than usual. I'm not your boss, you're exactly right, because to be your boss you'd have to be working here. We gave you an inch, you took a mile, now I'm giving you a foot out of the door...you're fired."

'The Prince Of Polyester' knew exactly what this dross was, but he was probably too distracted Kenny Omega's transcendent year in New Japan Pro Wrestling to properly process it.
