6. Chris Kanyon

Who betta than Kanyon? Kanyon was best known for his roles in WCW, performing as Kanyon and under the guise of Mortis. Real name Christopher Klucsarits, Kanyon also had a spell in WWE during the Invasion angle where he held the WCW United States Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship with Diamond Dallas Page. Kanyon debuted in WCW in 1995 as a jobber. After several months he was placed with Mark Starr in a tag team of construction workers called Men at Work. In 1997 he donned a mask and performed as Mortis and feuded with Glacier. Mortis' failure to impress Flock leader Raven lead to the end of Kanyon's tenure as the character - he lost the mask and feuded with Raven. Kanyon returned in 1999, helping Raven and Saturn win the WCW World Tag Team Championship, but soon abandoned them and formed a stable with Bam Bam Bigelow and Diamond Dallas Page known as the Jersey Triad. This lead to a feud between Kanyon and Page which saw the birth of Positively Kanyon - a parody reference to Page's autobiography. During the Invasion angle, Booker T was ordered to away Kanyon his U.S title and began referring to himself as 'The Alliance MVP,' posing the rhetorical question: "Who betta than Kanyon?" Kanyon was passed between Raw and Smackdown before a year out with two injuries saw the end of his WWE contract in February 2004. He retired from wrestling a few months later after losing a retirement match again DDP. After cutting short his retirement, he began a gimmick in which he was an openly gay wrestler. This included a publicity stunt wherein he stated that WWE released him from his contract because of his sexuality, acknowledging that fact he was in fact gay. Chris appeared on the CNN special Death Grip: Inside Pro Wrestling, following the aftermath of the Chris Benoit double-murder and suicide. On the program, Kanyon stated that on September 14, 2003 he took 50 sleeping pills in a failed suicide attempt. Kanyon had been suffering from bipolar disorder and he threatened suicide in the weeks prior to his death. On April 2, 2010, his brother Ken found him dead in his New York apartment with an empty bottle of antidepressants. He left behind a note of apology for his family.
