10 Wrestlers Turning 40 In 2017
5. Alberto Del Rio
Even though Alberto Del Rio didn't debut in WWE until 2010, it seems like he already accomplished just about all there is to do in the sport of wrestling. Prior to his career in the U.S., he (as Dos Caras, Jr.) was a major star in Mexico, but his WWE arrival introduced him to a worldwide audience.
Del Rio's success was meteoric - in the first year of his career, he would win the Royal Rumble, the Money in the Bank briefcase, and the WWE World Championship. By the time he left the company in 2014, he had racked up two reigns as WWE World Champion and two as World Heavyweight Champion.
Del Rio's 2014 release came after an altercation with an office employee who made a racist comment at his expense. The star immediately jumped back into the independent and international scene, winning the AAA Mega Championship and wrestling for Lucha Underground. He returned to WWE in 2015, winning the U.S. Championship twice, but left again in 2016.
The star turns 40 on May 25, 2017, and he's made plans to slow down, saying that he would wrestle 60 dates a year for the next two years, then retire from the ring.
