10 Wrestlers Who Are ACTUALLY Safe In WWE
In a WWE Universe where nobody is safe, here are the ten exceptions that prove the rule.
In theory, this should be the simplest article anyone has ever had the pleasure to write. After all, WWE has hours of television to fill every single week. Between Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT 2.0, NXT U.K., Main Event and 205 Live, WWE surely need to keep dozens of wrestlers on the payroll? This list on the other hand, only requires ten examples. Easy.
Sadly, matters have been complicated by wave after wave of unexpected and surprising releases over the past couple of years. After initial cuts at the height of a global pandemic in 2020, WWE has continued to trim its roster but somehow each fresh list of names shocks anew. So listing superstars who are safe is surprisingly difficult.
With wrestlers getting cut mid-repackage, mid-storyline or even in one case a single week after signing a new deal, it’s impossible to predict who will be sacrificed to the next round of “budget cuts”. The likes of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt have shown that being a recent top title holder, presumed lifer or even a licence to print money is no guarantee of a future in Vince’s world. The feeling amongst fans and talent is that no one is safe but that isn’t entirely true.
Before the next list of names is announced, let’s go ahead and look at ten superstars who couldn’t possibly appear on it.
10. Bayley
CM Punk was famously fired from WWE on his wedding day. Meanwhile, bringing us right up to date, Nia Jax claims she was waiting to hear back about extended leave on mental health grounds when instead she received her marching orders. So it’s not beyond WWE’s scope for cruelty to release someone on the long term injured list. After all, if they’re happy to release talent involved in ongoing TV storylines, why keep hold of someone they can’t even send out to wrestle?
Fortunately, the former “Hugger” is still of immense value to a company who has struggled to build new female stars to a level comparable with Bayley and her fellow Horsewomen.
Always a talented in ring performer, Bayley struggled to replicate her NXT success on the main roster but really came into her own after a heel turn and remains invaluable to a company determined to at least pay lip service to its Women’s Revolution.
The one-time “Bayley Dos Straps” is the sort of talent who can elevate anyone she works with or offer a compelling last minute PPV match when creative have forgotten to build a feud again. Plus if all else fails there’s always more juice in her career friendship/rivalry with Sasha Banks.
