10 Wrestlers Who Are Real-Life Heroes
3. Bam Bam Bigelow
The previous house fire ended without serious harm. This one, though, was quite the opposite. Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow will go down as one of the toughest wrestlers to ever lace a pair of boots, but his in-ring achievements pale in comparison to this selfless act.
In July 2000, the then-WCW star was living in Wayside, New Jersey when he noticed a fire across the street. Like all on this list, the Beast from the East acted without a second thought and went into help. Accounts vary on what actually happened, as Bigelow claimed he broke through a wall of a house, while others report a brush fire rather than a house fire.
What is undisputed, is that Bam Bam rescued the lives of three children from serious injury. But running headlong into a raging fire resulted in him receiving second degree burns across 40% of his body, for which he spent ten days in hospital recovering and wouldn't return to the ring until October of that year.
Bigelow's career and his life would come to a premature end in 2007, but his act of putting his body at risk to save those most in need will never be forgotten by his fans.
