After nine months out of action with various injuries, Jim Cornette's best friend Kenny Omega made his long-awaited return to AEW.
The Best Bout Machine aligned himself with The Young Bucks for the inaugural AEW World Trios Championship tournament. The group's first match came on Dynamite in August 2022 against La Faccion Ingobernable.
After beating the Mexican team, The Elite then squared off against representatives from New Japan's United Empire faction, Will Ospreay and Aussie Open. The six men left in all in the ring, but it was Kenny and his crew who once again picked up the win.
Then came the tournament final, where Omega was reunited with The Dark Order and the man who had beaten him for the AEW World Championship, "Hangman" Adam Page.
In another belter of a match, miscommunication led to Page taking out John Silver by mistake and The Elite becoming the champions.
The well-publicised events post-All Out got Kenny, The Bucks, and a whole bunch of other people suspended from AEW. Will Omega be back in the ring before the end of the year? Honestly, with this situation, it's impossible to say. Still, if he doesn't, that means he's unbeaten this year. So that's something.
