10 Wrestlers Who Buried Their OWN Promotions
6. Hulk Hogan Buries WCW's New Strategy
WCW booked a feud between older veterans and a few emerging hopefuls in 2000. That Millionaire's Club vs. New Blood story was quickly stomped out by Vince Russo-led silliness, but it had potential. It's just a shame Hulk Hogan's comments in the media mid-story crushed the impact of his bid to elevate Billy Kidman.
In fact, it seemed like Hulk was trying to do the opposite when he suggested young Billy "couldn't sell out a flea market on his best day". Later, Hogan doubled down on this 'worked shoot' carnage by telling WCW Live (an ahead-of-its-time internet radio show) that he meant what he said.
Kidman was lucky to even step foot inside the ring with Hulkamania, brother.
Continuing, Hulk dragged others into the mix by mentioning WWF stars. He outright said that he "wouldn't buy" a pay-per-view that featured matches like Billy vs. Perry Saturn. Why Hogan brought one of The Radicalz into the conversation is anyone's guess, but this did nothing to help WCW's cause.
