10 Wrestlers Who Could Be The Jokers In The AEW Owen Hart Tournament

9. Athena

Athena is a risk.

She never reached the levels at which she excelled throughout 2017 following the ruptured achilles she suffered two years later. She entered respectable performances upon a return otherwise blighted by apathetic stop/start booking and a heavily geekified presentation.

But looking at the state of AEW's women's division, risks are necessary. The scene is in dire need of polished, very good workers with an in-built following. Athena very much smashes that criteria, or at least, she did a few years ago. AEW has taken on male acts that aren't quite what they were. There's no reason whatsoever why Matt Hardy and the former Ember Moon can't co-exist in the same promotion. Well, there is, and that's half the problem with the women's division.

Her promo game isn't the strongest, but the same can be written about Toni Storm - and AEW hasn't badly exposed her because only incompetent promotions do that. Storm's promo time is brief, to the point, and conducted by Tony Schiavone. She isn't left out there to die with a live mic and an overly verbose, unflattering script. Athena's suicide dive is in the world-class tier and her Eclipse remains one of the most stunning finishers in the game.

She'd get over in one night.

Probability: 80%
