10 Wrestlers Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

5. Randy Orton

The Problem: Changing gimmicks at this stage in a wrestler's career could be troublesome. Randy Orton isn't some mid-carder either, he's been one of WWE's biggest stars for almost 15 years and has settled into a groove.

Being around so long may mean (to some) that Orton doesn't need a gimmick to be useful. His most identifiable trait is being himself, yes, but it's hard to become absorbed by Randy's feuds when there's nothing to latch onto these days.

It's time to blow Orton's psyche wide open again.

Suggested Change: Though we're not suggesting WWE stage any promos during which Randy has to ramble on about "Intermittent Explosive Disorder", it would be wise of the writers to come up with something more provocative than hitting the odd RKO 'outta nowhere'.

Orton can't return to his old "Legend Killer" character, and yet there are elements of that wildly successful run he can lift for use now. The cold, calculating slither he once performed, that disconcerting smile paired with stony-eyed glare and an altogether less fan-friendly approach are all needed for Randy to quit treading water and become relevant once more.
