You're guaranteed one of two things whenever AEW's All Out PPV comes to town.

You're either going to witness a night crammed full of mind-blowing, captivating, and world class moments/matches that will live on forever. Or one that will always be connected to one rather controversial moment of madness.

In the case of 2020's iteration of the event, it was unfortunately another case of the latter.

The crowd-less offering had already gotten off to a rather inconsistent start by AEW's standards - and rather than inject some welcome extreme life into the evening, Matt Hardy's Broken Rule fight with Sammy Guevara backstage proceeded to leave fans wincing for all the wrong reasons.

After the pair had somehow found themselves battling atop a scissor lift, the Broken One was suddenly speared off the contraption and straight through the tables below. The problem was that the spot clearly hadn't been thought out as well as it should have, and Hardy's upper half completely missed the furniture. So, his head horrendously smacked off the concrete.

The match was then allowed to continue as Hardy eventually came out on top after knocking Guevara off some scaffolding for the count-out win.

But the dreadful scissor lift spot being green lit in the first place, on top of the controversial call to let the match continue, both sit as two botched decisions that earned the company a deserved amount of criticism in the months that followed.
