10 Wrestlers Who Died In Mysterious Circumstances
8. Art Barr
After being blackballed from WCW following their discovery of a previous charge of rape against him, Art Barr moved south of the border to join EMLL.
Reinventing himself as a patriotic heel, the American Love Machine quickly became Barr's most successful run in the business, as he became a headline attraction at the age of 25.
Jumping to AAA upon their foundation in 1992, Barr's Los Gringos Locos team with Eddie Guerrero were unanimously considered to be the best tag-team in the business in 1994 and Barr the standout industry heel.
However, merely days after Los Gringos Locos legendary match with Octagon and El Hijo Del Santo at AAA's When World's Collide - with both WCW and the WWF waiting in the wings to sign the duo - Art Barr was dead.
Discovered at his home in Springfield, Oregon, initial reports declared that Barr had died of heart failure. A mixture of drugs and alcohol were also discovered in his blood stream. Barr's drug use had been a cause of concern among his friends, including Chris Jericho, who believes Barr died from an accidental pill overdose.
A subsequent autopsy, however, proved inconclusive and the official cause of Art Barr's death are due to unknown circumstances.
