A few months on from sensationally lifting the WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2013, only to be screwed out of the title thanks to The Authority, Daniel Bryan found himself stood in the middle of a ring full of former world champs.

This lot had all gathered for a Championship Ascension ceremony in the lead-up to Randy Orton and John Cena's unwanted WWE and World Heavyweight title unification match at the incoming TLC event.

Only, instead of giving a damn about either of the current top champions or any of the other big names in the squared-circle, every person in the building was more concerned with chanting "Daniel Bryan!" and "YES!" at the top of their lungs.

That Washington takeover once again highlighted exactly who the folks watching on really wanted to see battling over the belts. And the lack of Bryan in 2014's Royal Rumble even led to legendary babyface Rey Mysterio being booed out of the building.

This charismatic, hard working, people's underdog could not and would not be denied.

Not even Batista winning said Rumble could keep Bryan away from that year's WrestleMania main event, with WWE wisely sensing that just going with that Evolution singles encounter would have likely led to a 'Show of Shows' riot.

Instead, 'The American Dragon' triumphantly earned his way into the show-closer before immortalising himself as the new Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion as 'Mania XXX reached its glorious end.
