Shane Douglas wrestled extensively as enhancement talent in the WWF during the early portions of his career. It wasn't there that he had the most success, Douglas found his feet years later in WCW, before becoming one of the top names in the original ECW. His second WWF stint, meanwhile, was a complete dud.

Signing a contract in late-1995, Douglas was saddled with a lame professor gimmick. Renamed 'Dean Douglas', he was also dressed in a powder blue singlet and a robe that resembled a child's school art project. The whole thing was a world away from 'The Franchise', a hard-hitting character Douglas had created in ECW.

Delivering hammy dialogue during promos, Shane also found it challenging to get along with members of 'The Kliq'. Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Kevin Nash and friends were calling the shots in the federation, and they apparently didn't see much in Douglas.

In December, 1995, he made his last appearance for the WWF at In Your House 5. The short, lacklustre run did nothing for his career, it was a colossal waste of time and talent.
