10 Wrestlers Who Gained Nothing From Becoming World Champion
2. Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt jumped the shark a long time ago.
His character felt like a breath of fresh air upon debuting, but years of constant losing and bad writing have made him as threatening as the average Scooby Doo villain, and as credible as the Brooklyn Brawler.
Wyatt has become a chronic loser, and the master of nonsensical, babbling promos that use a lot of words but say absolutely nothing. It looked like WWE were going to rectify this earlier in the year, however. After years of treading water, Bray finally emerged with the WWE Championship following a chaotic Elimination Chamber, cementing his status as WWE’s top dog.
The resurrection was well underway… or so we thought.
Things took a dramatic U-turn shortly after. Randy Orton turned on Wyatt, and the character became a laughing stock once more. ‘The Viper’ dominated the feud’s first few weeks by burning Sister Abigail’s burial ground, then taking the title in a horrendous bout at WrestleMania 33. Now, Bray is back at square one: an ineffectual, babbling lunatic with no clear direction.
The title reign was a false dawn, and all hope of Wyatt ever truly ascending may be gone forever.
