10 Wrestlers Who Got Injured At The Worst Possible Time

7. Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler's incredible performances made him one of the most respected wrestlers in WWE, and even though his obnoxious heel character would have been a put-off in a different era, it endeared him to fans who knew he had a reason to be cocky. Dolph won the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank match in 2012, and while he found himself constantly attempting to cash in the briefcase and constantly prevented by more valiant superstars, that only made fans want to see him cash in even more. The big moment finally came on the episode of Raw after WrestleMania XXIX, when Ziggler defeated Alberto Del Rio - who had been floundering as a babyface - to one of the most massive pops in WWE history. He had finally arrived... or so it seemed. Only weeks later, Dolph was concussed by an errant kick from Jack Swagger and was benched for six weeks. WWE didn't take the title off Dolph while he was injured, but they used his concussion as an opportunity to take things in a different direction. A June rematch between Del Rio and Ziggler saw the former champion target Ziggler's head, trying to re-injure him. The resulting double-turn made Ziggler a face for the first time, but Del Rio claimed the title and Ziggler failed to win it back. Since then, WWE has teased pushing Ziggler many times, but has always held off. Perhaps he missed his best chance.
